Mrs. Nutan Dandekar who hails from Pune and author of “Growing up with Down’s – Raising a Special Child” gave us the permission for the translation to Malayalam and distribution of the book. It was distributed to each household in Angadippuram Panchayath of Malappuram District and RICCCH plans to spread it to each Panchayath in Kerala.
It is noteworthy that Hon’ble former President of India, Late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, has sent a message appreciating the endeavour initiated by RICCCH, in reaching out the book free of cost to common man, for creating an awareness on disability rehabilitation.
This attains importance as it highlights the role played by a mother in bringing up a special child, growing and rehabilitating him, enabling him to become part of the main stream, thereby, evolving herself as a Special Mother.
RICCCH has been over the years conducting several meaningful and purposeful awareness programs in support of special children, special mothers and disability rehabilitation.
Programs such as autism day, down syndrome day, various exhibitions, Free medical camps, “BADTHE KHADAM” – a tens days long observation of world down syndrome day & world autism awareness day , were conducted which were attended by eminent personalities such as Shri Baskaran, former Malappuram district collector, Shri Sarath, Padma Shri K. S. Chithra, Prof. Gopinath Muthukad and more on various occasions.
RICCCH has several on going activities and is also working on future activities / projects.
